About the designer: Leandro Castro

Originally from Rio, Brazil, Leandro Castro is a graphic designer living in St. Petersburg. He is a graduate from the University of Dayton, in Ohio. Since graduating with a Visual Communication Design degree 16 years ago, Leandro has worked as a creative designer for agencies and corporations. In his spare time, you can find Leandro, trying new, local restaurants, enjoying our beautiful beaches, and kayaking with his wife Kristy, and two rescue dogs. As the two-time winner for the poster contest, Leandro is grateful to be associated with an organization that fully supports our service members and their families!

2020 Winner: Leandro Castro

2019 Winner: Michael Sherard

Sherard is a graphic designer and photographer with a studio in South Tampa. He grew up as an Army brat in Germany and Orlando which gave him an immense respect for the military. Mike graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design and the New York Institute of Photography and has designed over 400 trademarks for local and national clients. He is a member of the TroutCreek Trailrunners who run in various parks and trails around Tampa Bay and is looking forward to running the Skyway bridge with his fellow trail runners, his daughter Allie and son-in-law Adam.
